Be specific about the product
Porcelain, ceramic and sintered surfaces are often grouped together in showrooms. Ask for the actual brand and product specification rather than assuming every surface described this way has identical properties.
For example, Cosentino publishes separate size, thickness, care and fabrication information for Dekton. That information applies to its product; it should not be used as a promise about every porcelain worktop.
Look closely at the edges
Ask to see a finished edge sample, not only the face of a slab. Discuss whether the pattern continues through the edge and how a thicker-looking edge would be made. Check how that detail will look around an undermounted sink and at the ends of an island.
Ask us to confirm the suitability of your chosen profile, cut-outs and unsupported spans. See thickness and edge choices for a practical specification checklist.
Budget for the finished installation
Cosentino notes that colour, size, thickness and fabrication/installation requirements affect a Dekton quote. Request a complete schedule covering templating, fabrication, delivery and fitting rather than comparing a slab price with an installed price.
Read what to include in a worktop quote and keep the manufacturer's care document with the project paperwork.
